Good quality food and reasonable price alongside friendly attentive service. Had steak pie and my friend had fish pie. Both meals tasty and plenty of food. It a Monday evening and although fairly quiet well staffed and all the staff made us feel welcome. Would recommend.

Booked a table here for a Sunday afternoon (daughters 18th birthday). Sat down at our table after getting in a round of drinks for us then to then tell us that there was no beef, no chicken and no lamb. Not even an apology. There was nothing on the menu other than scampi or fish that we could have had. Needless to say we left and ate elsewhere. Obviously I can't comment on the food quality as there wasn't any.

Right in the centre of Threlkeld, this is an old English pub. Worth a visit, with a well stocked bar and nice beers. The staff are very warm. The place has an actual fire place which for me was the USP.

Sadly we only stopped in for a drink whilst out waking. Were told quite abruptly that we would have to stand if we were not eating. Place wasn't really busy and there were lots of tables free. Quickly drank our drinks and left. Staff behind the bar were friendly, and it is also dog friendly

We've been eating here for over 20 years and probably will for another 20 years. On our last visit though there was much room for improvement where the food was concerned. Creamed Mushroom starter tasted like it hadn't been seasoned at all, it was very bland and the roux - I felt I could still taste the flour lightly. It was trying to be tasty and I think I kept hoping that with each spoonful it would improve but it didn't. Second course, which arrived literally within 2 minutes (but felt like 2 seconds) of our starter plates being cleared, was pork loin. A colossal portion of food which looked very impressive but at the same time really overwhelming. Again there was problems with seasoning and sadly my pork was overcooked, unlike the 2lb of carrots underneath the 5lb bed of sweet potato. I like my veg with a bite but I couldn't get my knife through the chunky carrots. Head waiter was superb with his chat and lovely and friendly but service during the meal did feel somewhat rushed. We'd laughed at the speed of our main arriving and commented upon this to the waitress. This did not alter the speed at which dessert menus were offered after our half eaten mains were cleared. We're hoping it was just an off night in the kitchen and do hope to return.

We stayed in the Saddleback Suite and it was amazing! It was super plush and comfortable. The bathroom was stunning and there was even a drying room next door which was welcome due to torrential rain that day, it enabled us to dry our wet …

Popped in whilst en route to Keswick, just off the A66. Both the steak pie and the fish and chips were very tasty, and so was the ale. Worth a visit, it's only about 10 mins further than the end of the Keswick railway path which is a lovely walk and would be made better with a visit to this pub. Recommended 👍🏼 Food & drinks: Well kept ales and hearty portions of tasty food.

We were out for a walk and popped in fir some lunch. Service was good promptly shown to a table, drinks ordered and served to the table. Staff were very friendly and made a fuss of our 2 yr old Labrador, which she loved. We ordered food which again came quickly it was hot, well cooked pub grub very nice. My only complaint is that while we were eating our lunch we were disturbed at the table twice with staff members coming to eitger fuss the dog or give her biscuits. Please if a dog is settled and customers are eating "leave well alone" Other than that this place offers good value for your money and decent beer.

Stayed just 2 nights but from the second I arrived a very warm welcome from Keith who showed me to my beautifully equipped room. My evening meal excellent so was breaky. Really impressed from the polite prompt service to the beautifully presented meal served very hot. Well done to everyone at H&F This hotel was recommended to me and I will be telling all my friends the same. Rooms: Everything I wanted. Just felt right. Warm and beautifully decorated.

Called here on a Saturday afternoon with friends for drinks and a meal. Superb food and great service. The menu covers all tastes from snacks to a full meal. Good range of drinks available. Booking a table is recommended. Very friendly and welcoming staff. If there is one downside, its parking, the 2 car parks fill up quickly, but that's a sign of how good the place is. Some areas are dog friendly. Highly recommended, will definitely call here again.
